Hello, World!

After that scintillating title, I guess this is the appropriate place to introduce myself. My name is Peter Hall and I'm wading ever so gingerly into the pool called "The Blogosphere." For those out there who know me, you're probably saying, "For the love of god, will this guy ever shut the hell up!" The rest of you (and I'm sure there are millions) will no doubt be echoing that sentiment soon enough. To be honest with you, I have always been one of those snobs who decried the narcissism of these things. Between the millions of blogs describing the best way to load your dishwasher and the Facebook pages with the line saying, "Going to my in-law's today," you would think a cranky old bastard like me (47 years young, if you must know) would rather gouge his eyes out with a 2-iron than go global with his rants and raves. In a sense I suppose I'm throwing up the white flag and rationalizing the whole thing by saying, "Maybe I can up the ante just a tad."

And that's the point I suppose. To throw out some thoughts on a semi-regular basis on everything from current events, literature, to sports and science fiction, to Shakespeare and religion. As we go along I'm sure my likes and dislikes will become apparent. I'm opinionated and love a good verbal joust. Just make sure you come to the table with a knowledge of your subject.

I'm going to quit for now, because in all honesty I just want to see how this looks on the web. Call it a test run. Hit 'em straight.
